okay when you guys go to make your graph for your lab report here can open up just like this an Excel that's right off of my teacher page I'm pretty much going to run through everything that I ran through today in class so if you remember a good bit of that if I don't need to watch this I don't care if you make a graph a circumference versus the distance I don't care if you make graph of diameter versus distance if you only do one of those two you have to stick with it future check diameter to distance you need to use that for your hypothesis your purpose your analysis and all that kind of stuff don't give me a graph of diameter and then the Horace your paper talked about circumference don't give me circumference in the whole rescue paper talk about diameter feel free to use both of them make them to separate grass or something if you want I can show you how to put them both on the same graph with two different Y axis it doesn't really matter play whenever you're making a graph you need to refer back to the graph rubric that I gave you I think it's also on my teacher page as far as what I'm looking for you have to have a an appropriate title we have to have an X & Y axis both of those have to have labels yet an appropriate key for it that's right kind of graph for making an XY scatter plot so I'm just going to run through this I'm going to make 1/4 diameter versus distance again I don't care which one you use youth I am her cuz it's the closest one the distance anyway it's the most common one I think people are using the version of excel I'm on I'm at my house on my own computer I think this is a different version of excel but we have the school everything there it might be in the menu or the warded a little bit differently or something so just look around it's it's all there though so if you highlight your dad to go up here to insert hey I was going to give you a couple option I know in Excel at the school there we have one of those insert a graph and then it brings this up so just look around that you're looking for basically the same logo or same same picture that you see here is a scatter plot and given the options you don't want to pick one of the ones with the lines in it because these points are not connected. Just that that was stupid and it's not giving you any useful information so ignore those go to the one that has. what is the data points make this bigger so you can work with it either right click out here in kind of the open area not not like down here in your actual grid but up here you're open area right click your dance move chart it's like new sheet in the head okay and it'll open up and see down here and now you have sheet one with your data and you have chart one which is your in your actual graph and everything so first thing you can kind of get rid of here your default title is not appropriate the way it is right now you just need to make the some kind of appropriate title okay I'm not going to put a title in here cuz I don't want everybody copying my exact title you need to be kind of creative and come up with your own never has to be descriptive and ask to be relating what you're showing here and here you can't just tell me distances the tree either you can't just tell me diameter trees you have to show me what two things your waiting you also don't need to put any kind of units in that because you're going to put those in the X & Y axis labels anyway whenever you go to put those in on your version of excel at the school if you come up here on the chart tools up near the top you have another tab if you're the sole out that's that's where you're going to get mines in a different spot here with this version of it but you're going to go to the layout tab and then it'll say something like add X & Y axis or ad add axis labels or something like that okay I have access titles here and you're going to have the same idea and no primary horizontal primary vertical primary horizontal will go underneath all my cases was diameter and then we measure that wall back to measure circumference so it's going to be in centimeters anyway don't actually write out here what's going to do here don't do this don't write diameter in Cent Raiders okay that's that's way too long there's way too much stuff going on there use abbreviations to your advantage to diameter or circumference or whatever you're doing Prince CNN abbreviation for centimeters gagan click out of that and I'll take you back talk to your layout tab again and then he can do the vertical axis do a rotated access to you gives you I think three different options on your version of the school vertical option of rotated option and a horizontal option vertical looks ridiculous horizontal looks ridiculous use the rotated one the same thing here this what's the distance between and the rest of that in meters I should get the units right in there anything on this chart you can change the size you can change the color you can change whatever you want to Chain by right-clicking on that part of it and then cooking then here it says format and format axis title format chart title at the click on a you're right click on a data point of essay format data series format menu is there for all these things if you want change size 2 whatever that's where you do it so I call him to make this little bigger I click on the format thing and I can go in here and change the alignment of it I could change the Colorado that I can change any of that kind of a kind of thing the other thing you can do is if you click on that and go back to the Home tab up here this week and change the size I want to make all the bigger I can that's fine the only thing you should not really change too much don't play around too much with the color just because you can doesn't mean that you should if I get your graph and it's got a hot pink background with bright neon flashing points on I'm going to be pretty upset so don't do that you also need a trendline on this so go to any one of your data points right click that and get on the add trendline you want the linear one what years will pop up a window but it's it's going to default to when you're automatically anyways to use it close so I should be close button on your video while you're should look you're following along its look pretty much the same as this right now getting this is missing is and the other one for your version of the school it comes up automatically so you don't have to make it a point to add that but what you do have to do is make sure that it's the same as the right thing so if I'm going to put one in here you Siri. They're it defaults to what I had listed here in the data which for us was distance to nearest that doesn't tell me anything the sincerest what can also doesn't tell me what we related because these blue dots in here don't you're there at their combination of things their combination of the distance between the trees and the diameter of the trees in the scape see you need to change that you can actually just go right back here to sheet 1 and that sell right there was a distance to near to make a hickory trees and I'm just fine guess I can go back to chart one if you noticed that'll change the one of your part of that we don't need that in there you can either leave it is more of a pain to try and get rid of it but you can either leave it or you can just make the things smaller and it goes away on its own and it's still there she's not visible one thing I would do here if you noticed how much of the space we wasted we don't have ignore or graph is kind of cluttered right now because it's it's compacted left to right if you click on that you can actually drag it all the way out and now your key is actually I was over top of your graph that's okay just as long as it's not an area and don't put it back up here or something to wear that blue. Looks like hello. Appointment you just got some random words in there that the area and it was fine something you can do like you return this and exactly like I'm going to definitely comment on it but you're probably not going to lose points there's definitely something we can do to clean this up a little bit if you noticed we don't go below 20 here if you do circumference we can go below 70 if you right-click on this number or any of these numbers for that matter on the x-axis he right click and go to format access rent change our minimum 4 years you're going to have to it'll say fixed maximum minimum Auto and fixed we're going to go in here you would actually have to click the thing that says fixed and then change the number yourself right now you see the minimum for the x-axis is at 0 we're going to make it 20 because we Pueblo 20 anyway so don't really have an extra room there so if I click 20 it stretches my dad a little bit and it makes little bit easier to read same thing here we can go about 12 for the y axis on a right click that get out of format again have you noticed over here my minimum is zero my maximum is 14K you're going to click fixed on maximum and change it to 12 if you're going to do this again you don't have to adjust it makes it look a lot neater lot nicer selecting a data point right there that's the one that's kind of keeping us from spread this out a little bit more it goes in 71 and 11 and 1/2 this does not need to be in the upper right hand corner like it doesn't need to be on the lines you don't have to this you can make it 12 you don't have to make it 11 and 1/2 you don't have to make this 71 having this empty space in here there's nothing you can do about it so don't worry about it if you return this in like this probably only, you would get it good job cuz there's nothing missing from that there's nothing you can really do differently one thing with your trendline here you have the option of displaying an equation on the chart if you do that it's going to pull something up like this that's fine if you want to include that go for it if you don't that's okay too but the thing is if you included you need to you need to talk about it at some point in your analysis section you talk about why it's there otherwise what's the point I personally wouldn't bother including it because you know we're not really worried about the equation. I don't care what the slope of the line is we talked about today if you go to one of those go to Google and just type in XY scatter plot correlations you're going to get something looks like this and it's going to show up as a low positive correlation that's all we're looking for you as a reference that in your house section but yeah long as you can see that trend line as he gets a low positive correlation you're fine you don't need that equation in there the only other thing I can think to mention if you go up there you pretty much have to do it in an open white area not liking your grid down here and by the way clip if you want to add more grid lines you can add mine are grid lines in there you do it on the y-axis also I don't care could do that or not it's there I mean this makes it look like graph paper I I don't I don't really care one way or the other but if you want to that's that's where it is he click on right click on the axis and you click add major admire gridline so anyway when you get a copy this to your word document right click up here in the open area click copy and then you just I don't have a Word document open right now you just going to go into your Word document get your cursor where you want this and just paste it like you would Pace anything else make as big as you can possibly make it on your page so that you know it's obvious of a trend here is it needs to be in Crestwood readable alright let you get you through that part from most pretty much everything if you have any other questions though definitely Google them obviously you're not in school Google on this principle just asked me but if your work Google on because there's a thousand different how to toriel's out there but pretty much anything that you could ever want to do with this so good luck with that try to have it done by Wednesday night that way I can take a look at it Thursday and you can just turned in a day early
