On September 2, 2026, the environmental engineering division of Terracon completed an indoor air quality investigation at West Shamokin High School. Results of that investigation were received today at 5:30 p.m. The testing was completed after a concern was raised about indoor air quality. The results of these tests indicated non-elevated levels of mold spores at West Shamokin High School. The air quality is normal and safe.
How the Testing Was Completed
The investigation included:
- Collecting air samples from four locations throughout the school.
- Collecting outdoor air samples for comparison.
- Measuring temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide levels.
The samples were sent to an accredited laboratory for testing.
What the Testing Found
The report found no elevated levels of airborne mold in the areas tested. Mold levels inside the school were significantly lower than the level found in the outdoor comparison samples. The levels were well within the normal and safe range.
We will continue to monitor the environment inside the building to ensure the air quality remains safe and normal.
