Welcome!  Wolf-Mart is the first student-run school store at West Shamokin Jr-Sr High School.  All year, students, faculty, staff, and community members can purchase a variety of snacks and SPIRIT WEAR to show off their WOLF pride.  

 

The store was originally planned and developed during my Fall 2021 Entrepreneurship class.  The idea started with a well written business plan created by each individual student.  From there, the students identified their target customers, developed a creative business name, worked their marketing magic, and Wolf-Mart was born.  While there were many other elements that went into developing the store, those listed above were the highlights.  

 

We currently have nine student employees who volunteer to work the store during their free period/study hall.  These students are responsible for checking out customers, restocking shelves, and assisting with the inventory.  We also have a student security guard who keeps order in the store during homeroom along with a student custodian who keeps the store clean and organized throughout the day.  All students assume their job responsibilities as "real" employees.

 

All proceeds from the school store are given to our STUCO organization directed by Mrs. Laura Breznican.  Those proceeds are used to fund school projects and activities that promote citizenship, scholarship, leadership, human relations, and cultural values.

 

Wolf-Mart is a true-to-life business opportunity for all of our students. It allows us to take what is learned in class and apply it to a realistic setting.  Through this simple hands-on-activity, students are able to understand basic accounting, economics, and advertising sills.  Those associated with Wolf-Mart learn effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.  The skills that will be needed in our ever changing and developing world.
